Insecurity: The Lies and the Truth of It.

DAY 3 OF 7

Have you ever made an exercise resolution or plan?  You buy workout clothes, a new gym membership, protein shakes, and maybe even a new “goal outfit”—like something a few sizes smaller as a goal to get fit or lose weight.  It’s a whole process just to even start the daily workout program.  Your first week you are super excited to go the gym.  You wake up early, you go, you sweat, and then you take a “proof” picture and post it on social media because you’re so proud of yourself.

But after a week or two, you’re tired. You want to sleep in instead of going to the gym. You want to eat the french fries instead of the salad. And most of all, you're discouraged because you’re not seeing changes yet in your body. And many times, we give up because it’s hard.

You see, it’s not that easy to just put off our old ways or habits. It’s not a snap of the finger that changes our insecurities to confidence.

It takes long-term work to put on a new way of thinking that we are beautiful and worthy because of so many years of thinking otherwise.

And often times, we stop because we aren’t willing to push through the hard things staring at us—like the lies that we have been told that somehow started to define us and change our way of thinking.

Genesis 2:25 says “and the Man and his wife were both naked and not ashamed.” Adam and Eve were just believing who God said they were, and they weren’t ashamed of it. Can you even imagine the feeling of freedom in that—not the naked part, the being “not ashamed” part?

And then in slithers the serpent. He used manipulation, doubt, and blame to change Eve’s view of her identity and purpose from God.

Eve heard the lie of Satan; she started to believe his lie was truth; she obeyed the lie, and all of the sudden, her relationships with Adam and God were changed forever.

She believed the words from the enemy that SHE WASN’T ENOUGH, that she needed more, that her life wasn’t full, and that she wasn’t content.

Have you ever been like Eve?

What lies have you believed about your identity?

What if you identified your insecurities as lies and became unashamed of how God created you?

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Insecurity: The Lies and the Truth of It.

Why is it so easy to believe who we aren’t instead of who we are? We’ve accepted the lie that we are unworthy and not enough. We’ve gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable in our skin. It’s time to breakout of that trap and step into the truth: We are God's Masterpiece.
