90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for Womenናሙና
For the next 18 days, we will put into practice the act of confession. While our focus is shifting a bit, don’t forget about surrender. The posture of surrender is a continuous act, as is every step in this devotional series.
The act of confession is threefold. Obviously, there’s confession to God and confession to others. But it all begins with dealing honestly with ourselves and is where we are going to camp out today.
Just like surrender, confession isn’t all about behavior either. Before we can actively engage in a confessing relationship with anyone, we must come clean with ourselves about our true condition. This means acknowledging sins that are better hidden (such as pride, selfishness, idolatry, lust, etc.) that may be attributing to our struggle of stopping sexual sin.
Unfortunately, much of the time, we aren’t being totally honest with ourselves about our true condition. This can be denial about certain areas of sin being a problem or as simple as having never truly examined our own hearts.
That is what Psalm 139 is all about—asking God to reveal what we cannot see about ourselves so we can be truly free.
Look up the song, “Search Me, Know Me” by Kathryn Scott, based on Psalm 139. As you listen in worship and read the words, pray for God to reveal to you any hidden sin.
What do you sense God is revealing to you about yourself that you need to admit to today?
