Introduction to Second John
John starts out in 2 John 1:1 that this letter was written “to the lady chosen by God and to her children, whom I love in the truth…” It has been debated as to whether the original audience was an actual woman or just a metaphor for a local church. It was probably written in a similar time frame as 1 John. The purpose of this book was to get back to the basics of following Christ as well as to warn the Christians of false teaching.
