Love God Greatly: RisenSample

Love God Greatly: Risen

DAY 19 OF 40

For the ancient Israelites to be cleansed from their sin, they had to sacrifice an unblemished, spotless animal to God (Leviticus 4-5). Jesus was the unblemished spotless lamb who was sacrificed for the sins of all God’s people. Because Jesus Himself is God, His eternal qualities made His sacrifice eternal, covering the sin of all God’s people for all time.

While the people who lived before Christ were also saved by faith (Heb 11), we have a great privilege of living after the resurrection of Jesus. We are able to place our faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. The glory of His promise and His redemption is made known to us through God’s Word and through the witness of believers who came before us.

We are able to know and have a relationship with the object of our faith: Jesus Christ. What a wonderful truth, that even though Christ’s work was known before the foundation of the world, we have the privilege of living on this side of it. We can put our faith in God knowing that the work of redemption is complete.

Father God, I praise You for allowing me to live on this side of the resurrection. Thank You for sending Christ to redeem the world, and for allowing me to know the object of my faith. I praise You, Jesus, for completing the work of redemption and for accepting me as one of Your children. Amen.

The resurrection of Jesus changed everything. Because of the resurrection we have hope. Risen: How the Resurrection Changes Everything will take a deep dive into the resurrection of Jesus Christ, exploring the ways in which the greatest miracle changed history, changed humanity, and changed us.
