The Lord Bless YouVoorbeeld
One of the first things God said to the first human beings was, “Bless you,” and along with that blessing, He gave them free will. (Genesis 1:28)
They could make the choice to live in God’s full blessing or go their own way. As we know, they chose their own way. Adam went from the wonder of meeting God every day, and working and caring for the Garden of Eden and its limitless bounty, to being an exhausted man breaking up rocky soil in a barren wilderness.
Long before humanity fell sick, God had prepared the cure. He announced that a man would come from the woman who would restore the blessing.
At the perfect moment, in the fullness of time, Jesus came and did what needed to be done to redeem humanity—to win back what had been lost—and to reconcile man to God and His blessing. We can live and grow in that blessing in spite of the brokenness in us and around us.
By His grace, you are His masterpiece. And with His help, you can live more in the way He designed you to live, and receive more of the blessings He planned for you when He created you. In order to connect to God’s desire to bless us, we must each bring our authentic selves to Him.
You may have failed, but God is so gracious and generous even in the face of insult and injury that you can expect to receive blessings unearned and yet given. Do you define yourself by your failures and shortcomings or as radically loved by a God of grace? Scripture tells us that faith in Jesus and living with an expectation of God’s blessing are essential to being blessed in every way. Do you really believe God wants to bless you?
