Daar was 'n dissipel in Damaskus met die naam Ananias. In 'n visioen het die Here vir hom gesê: “Ananias!” En hy het geantwoord: “Hier is ek, Here.” Toe sê die Here vir hom: “Maak gereed en gaan na die straat bekend as Reguitstraat, en vra in die huis van Judas na iemand uit Tarsus met die naam Saulus. Want kyk, hy is besig om te bid, en het in 'n visioen gesien dat 'n man met die naam Ananias binnekom en hom die hande oplê om hom weer te laat sien. ” Ananias het geantwoord: “Here, ek het by baie mense van hierdie man gehoor, van al die kwaad wat hy u •heiliges in Jerusalem aangedoen het. En hier het hy volmag van die leierpriesters om almal wat u Naam aanroep, in boeie te slaan.” Maar die Here sê vir hom: “Gaan, want Ek het hom uitgekies as instrument om my Naam uit te dra na nasies en na konings en na Israel.
