Daar was 'n gelowige in Damaskus. Sy naam was Ananias. Die Here het na Ananias gekom en Hy het vir hom gesê: “Ananias!” Ananias antwoord toe: “Hier is ek, Here, ek luister.” Die Here sê toe vir Ananias: “Staan op en gaan na Reguitstraat. Jy moet in die huis van Judas soek na Saulus wat van die stad Tarsus kom. Jy sal sien hy is besig om te bid. Terwyl Saulus gebid het, het Ek vir hom gewys dat 'n man na hom toe kom en dat hierdie man sy hande op hom sit sodat hy weer kan sien. Die man se naam is Ananias.” Maar Ananias het vir die Here gesê: “Here, baie mense het vir my vertel dat hierdie man baie slegte dinge in Jerusalem gedoen het aan die mense wat in U glo. En nou is Saulus hier, en die hoëpriester het gesê dat hy die mense mag vang wat vir U aanbid en dien.” Die Here sê toe vir Ananias: “Jy moet na Saulus toe gaan, want Ek het hom gekies en aangestel om vir My te werk en om vir die volke en hulle konings en ook vir die Israeliete te vertel van My.
