Jesus Culture - Faith For Your City

DAY 12 OF 21

My Father’s City

Impact:

If we were inviting the entire city to come over for dinner, we would want to make sure there was plenty of food and lots of room for all the guests to eat comfortably. Jesus wants us to understand that He has all of this under control. Heaven is a large place and its possibilities transcend our imaginations. Jesus loves a big party and can’t wait to feed, nurture and restore the masses. The only problem is, there is too much food and there are not enough guests.

In the Parable of the Wedding Feast, Jesus tells of a king who pleaded with his servants to “… go to the main streets and invite to the feast as many people as you find. […] good and bad alike.” (Matt. 22:9-10) We don’t have to be picky about whom we invite. The task may feel overwhelming but we must not be afraid because God does not send us to our “main streets” alone. Jesus assured us of this in John 14:18 when He said, “When I go, you will not be left all alone…” (John 14:18)

We, as the church, need to be bold and we must continually train laborers to gather the harvest. At the same time, we should be constantly inviting and gathering more people into the Kingdom. It’s an incredible opportunity to watch God do great things through us.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for preparing a city for us to come home to. Thank You for providing an abundance of food and shelter for those that have no home. Help me to remember this as I invite everyone into Your family.
