DAY 2: HOLINESS

Read: Isaiah 6:1-5; Revelation 4:8; 1 Samuel 2:2; Proverbs 3:5; Psalm 125:1

To be holy means to be set apart, pure in character, separate and sacred. All throughout Scripture, we see this characteristic of God magnified. It is the only attribute of God that is repeated threefold. Nowhere else in the Bible do we read that God is mercy, mercy, mercy or love, love, love – we read only that He is holy, holy, holy. This particular repetition is worthy of our attention, because when we begin to meditate on God’s holiness, it will change how we view God, and ultimately, ourselves.

Each and every one of us throughout our lives has been let down, lied to, taken advantage of, betrayed or mistreated by someone in whom we have placed our trust. These wounds leave scars and, all too often, create an unspoken narrative for how we view everyone else in our lives, including God. But when we understand that God’s holiness not only sets Him apart but leaves Him unscathed by the stain of sin, we can undoubtedly put our trust in Him one hundred percent of the time.

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, I begin by acknowledging that there is none like You. You alone are holy, holy, holy and worthy of all my praise. Heal the scars that have been left by those who have broken my trust and help me to confidently trust You with every aspect of my life.
