What’s the Truth?

DAY 7 OF 8

What’s True When You’re Stuck in the Middle?

When your friends or family argue, they might want you to pick a side. You might feel like you’re stuck in the middle.

So, what’s true when you feel that way? How do you pick a side?

What’s true is that you don’t have to pick a side. What’s true is that you can pray and ask God to give you loving, respectful words to help people to stop hating and start forgiving. You can ask a trusted adult who is not a part of the fight to help you out when it gets too hard, too confusing, or the people who are arguing just don’t want to work it out.

When you watch the Bible story, think about Rehoboam. He was in a fight with the people in his kingdom. Who offered Rehoboam loving, respectful advice? Who told him to be mean and hateful?

Talk Together

  • Share one thing that you remember from the Bible story.

  • What advice would you give to Rehoboam?

  • What do you think it is like to be stuck in the middle of someone else’s fight?

  • If you feel like you’re stuck in the middle of someone else’s fight, who can you talk to for help?

Pray Together

God, please help us give our friends and family words of wisdom and love when they’re arguing. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read Together

Read the Bible story for today. Take turns sharing what it makes you think about. Ask each other any questions it makes you think of.
