The Devotional to End All Devotionals

DAY 6 OF 40

Journaling is a good way to keep track of God’s activity in your life.

This practice may sound tedious and boring, but it doesn’t have to be. Your journal is just that, your journal, and it can take any form you want. You can use it to keep up with prayer requests, take notes during Bible study, memorize scripture, record meaningful verses and/or quotes, record personal thoughts and questions, or any combination of these things plus others.

Journal only as often as you want to so the prospect of doing so doesn’t keep you from wanting to study your Bible. We hope you will keep some form of a journal throughout this study, though, to see what it can do for you.

Some people find journaling to be helpful in the decision making process. Looking back at where God has led in the past can help you determine where He might be leading in the present and future.

Some people are encouraged when they look back at God’s activity in their lives. Others appreciate the accountability journaling provides. You can’t deny the promises you’ve made if they’re written down.

Remember, your journal is for your eyes and God’s only. It doesn’t need to be fancy. You don’t even have to write full sentences or words. Pictures work just fine.

Use the God Follower method to study today’s passage as a whole and then the last verse on its own.

  1. What does this passage tell me about God?

  2. What does this passage tell me about being a follower of God?

Thank God for recording His activity throughout history in the Bible for your encouragement and instruction.
