Hope: A Courageous Journey of FaithIsampula
DEVOTION - TODAY'S DISCUSSION
Miracles, do they still happen? Some days it's a miracle to get our teens out of bed, but beyond that, are they still around? What constitutes a miracle today?
Before Jesus' time, there were burning bushes, parted seas, a man surviving inside a fish for 3 days, cloud pillars, and on and on.
Then, Jesus came and healed thousands, fed thousands with only a few loaves of bread, brought people back from the dead, healed diseases, and ultimately provided salvation for all through his death and resurrection.
Today, miracles do happen. Miracles are born out of faith! Bible scholars say that most of the miracles that are similar to the Old Testament days happen now in oppressed countries where people are desperately seeking Christ. But there are miracles in your town each day. The drug addict who turns to God and goes on to witness to many, sharing their testimony and giving others hope in Christ. The mother or father who have suffered the loss of a child, and are now changing the lives of countless many through their walk of faith.
The hardened hearts of so many who God turns into shining lanterns of His light, these are true miracles happening every day. What miracles have you seen?
FROM "TAYLOR'S GIFT" THE BOOK
When the third call came, the transplant coordinator said, “We got an awesome heart; this one is really going to happen.” And so it did. As soon as Patricia woke up from the surgery, she said, “Who is she? I want to know who she is!” Somehow she sensed it was from a female donor, but the doctors couldn’t tell her more.
While she was in surgery, her husband, Joe, got a call from a friend in Colorado who told him about a local skiing accident and a girl who had died, leaving her heart to a thirty-nine-year-old woman in Arizona. By the time Patricia’s heart surgery was done, Joe already knew the donor, so although the doctors couldn’t tell Patricia who it was, Joe could.
He pulled out his laptop and showed Patricia pictures and videos of the thirteen-year-old donor.
