Daily Bible Reading — January 2024, God’s Guiding Word: DiscipleshipIsampula
January 15
Introduction
Mark 5:1–20: After preaching to a large crowd of people, Jesus and the disciples cross Lake Galilee by boat and arrive in Gentile territory where they encounter a man possessed by evil spirits.
Today’s Key Verse: Mark 5:19b
[Jesus said:] “Go back home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you and how kind he has been to you.”
Reflect
How is the man Jesus and his disciples encountered described (verses 2–5)? What did he say to Jesus (verse 7)? According to verses 11–13, what happened? Why were the people afraid after Jesus healed the man (verse 15)? What did the man do after he was healed (verse 20)? What does this story teach you about Jesus? With whom will you share the Good News about Jesus today?
Pray
Lord Jesus, you know my name and have called me to follow you. Empower me with your Holy Spirit to tell others about you and to proclaim all the wonderful things you have done. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Mark 5:21–43: Jesus restores a girl to life and heals a woman.
