God's Redemption Story (Genesis)

While Jacob was traveling to his mother’s hometown, God visited him in a dream and promised to make him a great nation. When Jacob woke up, he felt the weight of God’s holiness in the area. He built an altar, named the place House of God, and laid down the terms of the contract. That’s right—God offered abundant blessing, and Jacob responded, “If you come through, then I’ll call you my God.”

Sometimes we do the same, don’t we? God, I want to follow you, but I need you to do this for me first. Or God, I really want you to bless me, and I want you to do it in this way. We can be very selfish and foolish people. The good news is that Jesus loves us so much that he already died for us and already has great plans for us. Let’s sit back and see what God can do!
