Stay on Track! Paul's Letter to the GalatiansIsampula
Living in communion with God
“Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” (Galatians 4:6)
Once more, Paul warns against “the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world” that can enslave us. These belong to the times “when you did not know God. " When we get to know Him, the situation becomes different! Then we can live in communion with God. The Holy Spirit focuses our hearts on our heavenly Father. We may even call Him “Abba,” which is an intimate and personal word comparable to “daddy.”
God is great and holy. He wants a close relationship with us. He wants us to be His beloved children. Therefore, He sends His Spirit into our hearts to transform us and fill us with love, trust, and reverence toward Him. Being God’s children also implies that we are “heirs according to promise,” of “an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven.” (1 Peter 1:4). It is clear we did not earn this inheritance. In ourselves, we are not worthy to receive anything! But in His amazing grace, God not only wants to save us from sin and death, but He also wants to bless us abundantly.
What is your view of God? Does the word “Father” or “daddy” fit your relationship with Him?

Paul wrote a letter to the Galatians because he was very concerned about their spiritual well-being. They were in danger of straying from the right path, and Paul goes to great lengths to keep them from that. His explanations and advice are still extremely relevant today!
