[Unseen Battle] the Battle Is Real

Resist the Enemy

Do you believe you have an enemy? Satan is real. We have a very real battle, a very real enemy. Let me give you a few points of application to endure the struggle:

1. Surrender fully to Jesus.

There is no wavering in this matter. There’s no crossing the line here and there but never fully committing. God is calling us to holiness. He invites us to surrender completely to him. In Matthew 16:24–25, Jesus says, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

2. Stay alert at all times.

Open your eyes. Wake up. We must always stay alert against the enemy’s schemes. We must also wait and watch for the coming of our Lord. Matthew 24:44 tells us, “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

3. Remain in community.

Taking offense is now far more addictive in our culture than showing appreciation or grace. But family doesn’t run out at the first sign of offense. We who know Jesus receive grace to extend grace to others. Our battle is not against flesh and blood. We need to sit in the secret place and let Holy Spirit do the work He’s trying to do in us. We need each other; We must be united and stick together. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

4. Stand firm.

When the enemy is coming at you, stand firm. Pray again, and keep praying. The fight-or-flight instinct tells you to run, but I submit to you: Stand firm in the Lord, and your enemy will run from you. James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Jesus, sometimes the battle is challenging, especially when the enemy who does not play fair comes after our precious ones. We choose to exalt You first and foremost. We know that all of hell shakes at the sound of Your name. Thank You for giving us victory over our enemy. Amen.

[Unseen Battle] the Battle Is Real

We are involved in an unseen battle, whether we believe it or not. We have a real enemy who hates us. We have an opponent committed to stealing from us, killing us, and destroying us. His language is fear, isolation, and accusation. His currency is condemnation. We must watch out for the devil’s schemes because Scripture says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
