Daniel has a vision of Jesus Christ returning to establish His kingdom for all those who believe in Him. God is ultimately in control of all earthly powers, ruling sovereign. However, Satan is temporarily ‘ruler of the earth,’ tempting and blinding many. Jesus Christ’s dominion is one that is everlasting, one that will never pass away and never be destroyed. In this kingdom, Jesus will be exalted and will rule mightily.
To what kingdom have I given my allegiance? Satan desires that we establish kingdoms focused on ourselves, our family, our career, our positions, and our money. Our government inevitably will end. Our families may disappoint us. Our careers, status, and money may come and go, but God’s kingdom is eternal and enduring forever.
Father God, I thank You for Your assurance that You are in control. Hinder me from substituting things or people for my allegiance to You. Help me to represent You well to those who are seeking a kingdom to serve. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
