New Beginnings - Relating With Women of the Bible Part 3Isampula
THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD—AUDACIOUS FAITH
My faith aroused as I refused to accept the doctor’s report that cancer was possibly the cause of my bleeding. Having suffered for two years, I had the tumor removed. I held on to the promise that Jesus already healed me and rejoiced when I didn’t hear the ruthless “C” word after pathology. What medicine can’t cure, I believe God can.
The remarkable woman with the issue of blood had an audacious kind of faith. After twelve long years of suffering from hemorrhage and spending all that she had to find a cure to no avail, she was still hopeful for permanent healing. It would be easy to give up, be discouraged, and accept the illness as the end of her, but she was very persistent. Upon hearing the miracles Jesus did, she knew He was the answer to her illness. Full of courage and confidence, she crawled through the crowd to be able to touch the hem of His garment and believed for her healing.
To try to press in through the crowd discreetly and remain unnoticed was the least of her aggravation in comparison to the incitement of insults and rebuke because of a culture that treated women as second class. She was also lawfully ‘unclean’ and had no right to be in the crowd. So, she had every reason to be afraid. But her faith said, ‘go for it!’ She believed in Jesus’ healing power.
While multitudes were also pushing through the crowd of people, aiming perhaps to do just the same—to touch Jesus for their healing, her touch, however, was different. And Jesus noticed her touch. He perceived power going out from Him when she reached His garment with her audacious faith, and she was healed instantly.
So noteworthy was Jesus’ response to her: “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” At that moment, she was called a ‘daughter,’ signifying that she belonged to the family of God. Her healing was complete—physical and spiritual.
Indeed, the victory that overcomes the world is our faith. The moment we believe in Jesus, our healing is complete. He gives us new life in the physical and spiritual realm, and the only requirement is the activation of our faith. How can you exercise your faith and be healed completely today?
