Cody Carnes - Christ Be Magnified Isampula
Title:
There is Power in the Blood of Jesus
Devotional:
Verse 1:
Are you searching for a savior
Is there healing that you need
Is your heart completely broken
Have you lost yourself in grief
Verse 2:
Are you buried in depression
Are you longing for some peace
Is your past a weight you carry
Are you desperate to be free
Chorus:
There is power, power, wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb
There is power, power, wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb
Verse 3:
There’s no burden He can’t carry
There’s no life He can’t redeem
There’s no darkness He can’t light up
There’s no captive He won’t free
Bridge:
We will overcome by Your blood and this testimony
Death is overcome by Your blood, victory is our story
In Luke 4:17-19 (NLT), Jesus reads a passage from the book of Isaiah. It’s a prophetic scripture, spoken about what the Messiah would do, the miracles He would perform, the abundant life He would bring.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”
Here's why that scripture is so important: Jesus read those words because He is the fulfillment of them!
In a world where brokenness, depression, loneliness, and addiction are prevalent, Jesus steps in. Into the darkness. Into the world. Into the mess, even the messes we make, to set the captive free, make the blind see, release favor, grace, hope, and mercy.
How is Jesus able to do this? Revelation 12:10-11 (ESV) shows us…
And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…
Through His finished work on the cross, there is power, wonder-working power in the blood of Jesus.
1 Peter 2:24 (ESV) says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
Notice the past tense of that verse. It doesn’t say you will be healed. God’s Word declares that through the blood of Jesus, you have been healed.
Yes, that doesn’t negate the pain or loss we experience in this life. But it does give us hope. It’s a promise. An authoritative proclamation of the Heaven we are destined to release in and through us on earth. Which is why we need to declare it!
Notice Revelation 12:11 didn’t stop with “they have conquered him (the accuser) by the blood of the Lamb.” “The word of their testimony” is also needed. So, no matter what you’re facing today, I want to encourage you to speak these words by faith…
Depression is no match for the blood of Jesus.
Negative thoughts are no match for the blood of Jesus.
Addiction and bad habits are no match for the blood of Jesus.
The mistakes of my past and my future are no match for the blood of Jesus.
The enemy is no match for the blood of Jesus!
This is our testimony, our story of victory and healing. And it’s for us to receive in Jesus today.
