God's Heart for Justice: A 5-Day Devotional on Compassion and Action預覽
You're Not in It Alone
When God first called me to help people enslaved in human trafficking, I felt like Moses when God said to him, “I’m going to set my people free, and I want to use you.”¹ Like Moses, I couldn’t see how it was possible. But God, I’m a woman. But God, I have two small children. But God, I know nothing about human trafficking. But God…
What are your “buts?” But God, I have no experience. But God, I’m not educated enough. But God, I have no connections. But God, it’s too big of a problem.
What often sounds like humility isn’t, because it’s never about what we are not; it is about who God is. It is never about our limitations; it is about God’s supernatural ability to do exceedingly, abundantly above and beyond anything we could ever ask or think!² It’s never about what we can do in our own strength; it’s about what God wants to do through us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I understand that justice work can feel overwhelming, especially when we confront enormous challenges like human trafficking, poverty, or systemic inequality, but God is not asking if you can create a plan to seek justice in your community, he is simply asking if you are open to being part of his plan. He’s not calling you to rely on your own strength; he’s calling you to trust in his.
Reflection
In your journey to pursue justice, how can you shift your focus from your abilities to God’s promises?
Prayer
Lord, thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to be enough because you are. Help me trust in your presence and step into the work you’ve called me to with humble confidence. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
