Verse 2 mentions the mountains surrounding Jerusalem, which are higher than the city itself. Why does the writer use these mountains as a metaphor for God’s protection? In what ways do you experience God’s protection?

Lord God, draw me close to you and teach me to obey your commands. Thank you for offering me the peace and security that comes from trusting in your protecting love. Amen.
