God's Attributes Reflected in Us預覽
God’s power shines even more when we are weak
“But He [God] said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
When you are a child of God, you become like Him in certain ways. But you do not become a superman or superwoman. Neither physically nor spiritually. Perhaps you struggle with your weaknesses more than ever. For example, Paul exclaimed in despair: “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.” (Romans 7:19) It is precisely when you begin to value God's will that you notice how stuck you are in sinful patterns. How quickly you give in to wrong temptations. But again and again, you may ask for God's power to work through you.
When Paul told of God's love as a missionary in an unknown city, he did so “in weakness and in fear and much trembling” (1 Corinthians 2:3-4). That was not easy! Yet Paul's weakness also had positive consequences. For now, it was clear to everyone that converts were convinced by God's power and not by Paul's charisma. It was precisely through Paul's weaknesses that God's power could be fully revealed.
Even in adversity, Paul could testify, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) So, a Christian's strength comes only from their union with the Lord Jesus.
Do you experience the same way? Do you see God's power at work in your life and in the people around you?
