What Is My Value?

3天中的第3天

How do we restore our connection to God? How do we find God-worth, God-value, and God-esteem? The truth is that we cannot restore our connection to God. It is a work that only God can do, but because He loves us, He did just that.

How much does God love us? He loves us so much that He took the curse of sin upon Himself, hanging on a cross to pay for our sin. What does that mean? That means our value is incredible. When we get to feeling like no one likes us or cares about us, that we are worth nothing, or that our value is based on our perfect kids, spouse, or perfect Instagram life, we are wrong. None of those things are real.

What is real is that the God of all glory, Who created us in His image, Who made us to be connected to Him, came and restored the connection that we broke. Why did He do that? Because He loved us. It has been said that if you were the only one alive, Jesus still would have died for you.

Is there value in knowing that? Actually, I think that is all the value that we need. Romans 5:7–8 tells us that, For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God demonstrated, or showcased, His incredible love for us by dying in our place. According to the Scriptures, our value is this: We are worth the price of God Himself.

God’s value for us does not just end at the moment of salvation. Every day, He is working in our lives to make us more and more like His Son, Jesus. According to Jeremiah 29:11, His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace, and not of evil. He has an expected end, a specific plan for each of us. I realize that many reading this have experienced heartache and hardship in life, and may not feel like God has good thoughts toward them, but He promises that He does.

When we start to doubt our value, we should ask ourselves this: Am I more valuable than a sparrow? Matthew 10:29 tells us that a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without God knowing about it, and that we are of more value than the sparrows. So, if God is concerned about the sparrows, and we are more valuable to Him than the sparrows, then our God-value and God-worth is found in our connection with Him.

When we begin to feel alone, or that we are not valuable or appreciated, we must remember the promise in Hebrews 13:5–6 that He will never leave us or forsake us. When we have that connection with Him, we can boldy say, …the Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

1 John 4:16–19 reminds us of the truth of how much God loves us. If we can always hang on to that truth, we will never have to worry about self-esteem, self-worth, and self-value. We will never have to live in fear of losing His love or our salvation. We can live in confidence and value and love Him because He first loved us.

Friend, don’t ever forget that: God loves you. That is the basis for your God-value and God-worth. I will say it again: You are worth the price of God Himself.
