A MINDSET OF ANXIETY v A MINDSET OF PEACE

Phillipains 4:6-9 ends by promising that God's peace would be with us. Over the past five days, we have looked at shifting our mindsets from performance to position, from struggle to surrender, from grumbling to gratitude, from defence to dependence and from uncertainty to certainty. The fruit of these mindsets will either be one of anxiety or peace.

2 Timothy 1:7 clearly states that God has not given us a spirit of fear but one of love, power and a sound mind. To be sound of mind is to be at peace and secure in our identity, destiny, and authority. The biblical description of peace is "the tranquil state of a soul assured of their salvation, despite this earthly lot." This is my favourite biblical word description.

Living with an anxiety-inducing mindset instead of peace is a choice based on what we fix our thoughts on. Our minds are a battlefield of the enemy; taking a proactive action approach to manage our mindsets is biblical and imperative to how we live.

Let our trust be in Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our faith. He will keep us in perfect peace as we fix our thoughts on Him - Isaiah 26:3.

Please note: In the same way that a multivitamin is not the cure for cancer, there are varying degrees of struggle that people can go through under the term "anxiety." Some cases of severe anxiety may need medical intervention, especially if you are doing all the right things, but nothing is changing. Remember, we are spirit, soul and body. This reading plan's tools focus on addressing the spirit and soul. How do we align thinking with spiritual truth? If you are struggling to get your anxiety under control, especially if it is trauma-related, please check in with a professional.

Pray:

Jesus, thank You for Your peace, which guards our hearts and minds beyond all understanding. I now pray that You will flood my heart and mind with Your peace through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Mindsets That Hurt v Heal

This reading plan examines six mindsets that hurt rather than heal. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The mind is the enemy's battlefield; owning this space is crucial to finding healing and wholeness.
