An Excellence of Organization

She saw the organization of his officials. (1 Kings 10:5)

By seeing the way his officials sat, the queen developed an appreciation for the order and careful organization at the place. It offered a visual picture of Solomon’s organizational chart. She could tell who oversaw which departments and who reported to whom. Having a keen administrative mind, her team likely asked for job descriptions and organizational charts and requested how-to manuals and recipes from the royal kitchen to accentuate what she had in the Kingdom of Sheba.

Now you probably don’t immediately think of organization when you hear the word excellence, but hear me out. If it’s important enough for the Bible to mention, it’s important enough for us to pay attention to.

What if the staff was out of sorts, and the right people were not where they were supposed to be? What if the dinner was ready an hour late? What if the candles had not been lit or the tables not prepared? As easily as the Queen of Sheba saw the organization of King Solomon’s officials, how easily would it have been to see the disorganization.

The same is true of our lives. What are people seeing when they look at your life? Are they seeing someone organized with systems and structures in place to help you do the things God has called you to do, or are they seeing disorganization? If you find yourself identifying with the latter, ask God today to reveal to you areas into which He wants to bring more structure .

The question is: What are people seeing when they look at your life?
