Daily Bible Reading – May 2020 God’s Life-Giving Word of Faith預覽
May 18
Introduction
In today's reading, Paul continues to discuss his relationship with the church at Corinth. In response to the church's demand that he present letters of recommendation as proof of his apostleship, Paul tells them that they themselves are the letter, written with the Spirit of God and written on the hearts of Paul and his companions. He also discusses Moses, whose face shone with God’s glory. Yet following God’s command, he wore a veil over his face. In contrast, followers of Christ are given the opportunity to experience the fullness of God’s glory.
Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:6b
The written law brings death, but the Spirit gives life.
Today’s Reading
2 Corinthians 3:1-18
Reflect
In verse 6, what does Paul say about the new covenant? (see also Jeremiah 31:31-34). In what way can you be a servant of the new covenant? Reread verses 15-16. When Paul refers to a veil covering the minds of people who read the Law of Moses, he means that the people of Israel did not understand the true purpose of the Law. Paul says this covering can only be removed when people interpret the Law by faith in Jesus as the Christ. What does this passage mean for people today?
Pray
Loving God, thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit. Where your Spirit is present, there is indeed freedom. May I serve you and reflect your glory by the power of your transforming, life-giving Spirit. Amen.
