[Psalms] Why We Need to Sing預覽
My Identity in Jesus Christ
As the people of God, we can come together and sing praise to God and be unified over any worship war.
In the Old Testament, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—grandfather, father, and grandson. They had the same job, wore the same clothes, lived in the same piece of land, and sang the same songs. That is not how it is today. I might not like the same thing you like. The chances of liking your grandkids’ music are very small. As a grandson, you do not have the same job that your grandfather spent over 40 years keeping.
We are called to sing to Him, not just about Him. We do not go to church to have Christian karaoke, we go to church to sing to Him. Sing to Him with all that we have. It requires us to go beyond our personality to our identity in Christ. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, He has given you a song in your heart and praise to give back to Him. It is the right thing to do.
God has wired all of us differently. Some of us grew up singing every moment. Some always have a song in their heart and whistle it while they work in the garden or while doing dishes; always with the radio on. Some of us could take music or leave it. It is not really our deal.
We have to move past our personality to our identity in Jesus Christ, to sing from our heart—our spirit.
It does not matter if you are a good singer. I am talking about praising. I am not talking about vocal cords. I am talking about the cords of your heart. If you are a bad singer, who cares? But if you are a bad worshiper, that is a problem. If you are a bad keeper of a melody and a harmony, who cares? If you do not give praise, it will affect your relationships, your marriage, and your way of life. It is about your heart before the Lord of singing to God, not just singing about God or to the people.
Sing to Him. Past your personality and to your true Christian identity. We are not all great singers, but we can all be great worshipers, and that is what God is calling us to be: true worshipers.

It does not matter if you are a good singer. Praising is what matters. Not the vocal cords, but the cords of your heart. If you are a bad worshiper, that is a problem. If you do not give God praise, it will affect your way of life. Praise is about your heart before the Lord of singing to God, not just singing about God.
