The Full Armor of God
The Apostle Paul wrote this letter while he was in prison in Rome (around AD 62). As you will see when you read verses 10-20, there is a sense of power and purpose to Paul's writing. He’s not saying to try on the armor of God and see how it goes. He’s telling us to put on the armor of God and shows us the benefit of each piece.
I don’t know about you, but if I were in prison, I’d have a hard time writing with purpose and power. However, Paul sets a great example that no matter our situation, we have access to God's provisions for our life.
Our focus verse drives home the point of while yet still in chains, Paul says, “I’m an ambassador (for Jesus) in chains, and I declare it boldly.”
How many of us have opportunities to speak boldly about Jesus but don't? Not only did the word “boldly” stand out to me but, so did the word “ambassador.” It spoke to me because we are a reflection of Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions and while our situation may change, our approach should not.
What kind of ambassador are you when times may not be going the way you want? Most of us won’t be declaring our faith from a prison cell, but you may have moments that feel like you are in that very same situation. I know many of you are going through broken marriages, addictions, employment issues and maybe even health problems. None the less…cry out, my brother! Declare God is Good!
Uncommen Questions:
Do you take ownership of your role as an ambassador of Christ?
Do you take the opportunity to speak boldly when given a chance?
Uncommen Challenge:
I challenge you to revisit your situation and determine where you can become bold and what kind of ambassador you are.
ROAR - Put on the full armor of God and declare your boldness in Christ Jesus through the lenses of truth and grace.
Scripture Verses: Ephesians 6:10-20
