Keeping Hope

6天中的第3天

Over the course of 12 hours, Job discovered that 10,000 animals from his livestock, most of his servants, and 10 of his beloved children had died. Job had the hardest day of his life. Still, he kept faith in God’s goodness.

Keeping faith in God’s goodness doesn’t mean you can’t have doubts or ask questions. Job certainly did. He was dismayed. With immense grief, he asked God, why was I born?

Job wrestled with his opinion of God. He listened to some really bad advice, and he became depressed. But the important thing to remember is he never stopped talking to God. In the end, Job declared, “I hold fast my righteousness, and will not let it go.”

The strong depend on themselves, trusting in their sufficiency and ability. But Scripture tells us that those who put their trust in themselves shall fall, faint and be weary. However, those who wait on the Lord and by faith, rely on him, will find a trustworthy God who will not fail them. Our Father gives grace sufficient for those who depend on him; they will have their strength renewed by him.

Pray:

Lord, help me to trust in you. Help me to draw my strength from your strength. I thank you for seasons or plenty and seasons of lack. I think of and pray for those who are not strong. Renew their strength, Lord. Amen.
