Fuel the Fire Pt 2

4 天中的第 2 天

The prophet Elijah faced a great crisis in Israel: the people of Israel started worshipping the false god Baal alongside Yahweh. As a result, the altar of the Lord once used for worship had been torn down and neglected. Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to a contest where both sides would build an altar and call upon their God and see which God responds with fire. But before Elijah could call down God’s fire from heaven, he had to repair the altar.

The altar serves as the foundation for the fire of God to be set ablaze. When we become distracted by our problems and challenges, our altars can become neglected, just like Elijah’s. If we want to see the power and presence of God, we must repair our own altars by finding the areas of our lives that are out of alignment with the will of God.

As we seek God’s power and His presence for this year, it’s important to make sure our spiritual altars are prepared. Three important disciplines to prepare a firm foundation for the fire of God are prayer, worship, and studying God’s word. These are the basic disciplines that help us to commit and depend on God, but there may be other areas you need to realign with God’s plan. Ask yourself, what areas in your walk with Jesus need to be repaired?
