Now is the time to prepare…
Your life in Christ is brimming with purpose. Paul declares in Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” He later urges believers in Ephesians 4:1 to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” This truth is incredible, yet many struggle to embrace it.
Why? Some trust more in the weight of their sins than in the depth of God’s grace. Others, weary from waiting, feel their time has passed. Still, others fall into comparison, doubting their worth. These doubts lead to the same result: purposelessness.
Oswald Chambers observed, “We can choke God’s Word with a yawn.” How often do we dismiss the power of God’s calling by focusing on our failures, life’s delays, or comparing ourselves to others? Chambers challenges us to “strangle [our] other interests and make time to realize that the center of power in your life is the Lord Jesus Christ.” Distractions won’t lead us into God’s purpose—only Christ can.
It’s time to silence the lies and distractions holding you back. Over the next five days, we’ll explore five key qualities from the life of John the Baptist as revealed in the Gospels. His purpose wasn’t validated by worldly wisdom or traditions but rather by God. Through considering key facets of his ministry journey, we’ll uncover five essential elements to prepare for God’s purposes in our own generation and to join Christ in His work.
The Gospel is greater than you can imagine, and Jesus is stronger than your fears. You are invited to say goodbye to purposeless living. It’s time to doubt your doubts. Lift your eyes and get your hopes up. What Christ has started in you, He will bring completion (Philippians 1:6). You were made for a kingdom purpose. Now is the time to prepare...
REFLECTION:
Where do you sense God stirring a new sense of purpose within you, and how will you respond to that prompting?
