Insufficient Answers - Not All Questions Have Answers

9 天中的第 3 天

In Isaiah 40:28, we read, "Don't you know, haven't you heard? The Lord is the eternal God, Creator of all the earth. His understanding is unsearchable.”

We all know John the Baptist's words in John 3:30: "He must become greater; I must become less." We've all read them, rolled them around in our minds, and believe that these words are profound. Yet these words have deeper consequences than most followers of the Lord Jesus realise.

In the process of spiritual dying to self, we will pray many prayers to continue to live, but they will not be answered because it is the will of the Father that we should die to ourselves so that His Son may be exalted.

There will be days when you will have questions to which you will need help finding the answers. On those days, you will need to remember Jesus' words to John the Baptist: "Happy is the man who does not begin to doubt Me" (Luke 7:23).

This is the strange thing about the gospel: When a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it bears fruit (John 12:24). Dying to self is one of the mysteries of the kingdom of God. Many who die to themselves will never know how much fruit their work in the Kingdom of God has produced.

Some people wrongfully assume that because God did so many miracles for them over the years and answered so many of their prayers, it is guaranteed that He will provide (this time also) a good outcome in the face of impending death, bankruptcy, or other difficult situations. Life can become complicated when we don't receive the answers we were hoping for, or God decides to answer us in a different way. We may think: What happened to God? What did I do wrong? Too often, people end up concluding that God cannot be trusted.

In these times, the only way to make sense of what God is doing is to die to ourselves—our views, opinions, desires, and our own understanding of the Scriptures. We must allow the Father to exalt Jesus in the way that He thinks is best. The fact that we do not understand everything that God is doing doesn't mean that God might be wrong or that God doesn’t know what He is doing.
