Heaven, How Amazing Is It? Part 1 of "Heaven and Hell"預覽
What will we be doing?
“The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve Him. They will see his face, and his Name will be on their foreheads ... They will reign forever and ever” (Revelation 22:3-5).
What will believers do in heaven or on the new earth? Some see heaven as a boring place, as a kind of never-ending church service. We read about a great crowd from all nations, peoples, tribes and languages standing with palm branches cheering before God's throne (Revelation 7:9-10). That doesn't sound boring at all, but more like a festive gathering where joy and energy are bursting forth.
We find clues that we will work in the hereafter, at least on the new earth. It says in Revelation 22 that believers will serve God and rule as kings. Ruling implies working, and working is part of the human existence - God created man and woman to preserve and work the earth. Only after the Fall did work come under a curse, but on the new earth there will be "no more curses" (Revelation 22:3). The frustration, setbacks, miscommunication, mental and physical problems that now hamper us at work and often make it a laborious undertaking will then all be a thing of the past. Everything done will be beautiful and good and deeply satisfying.
Perhaps the thought that believers will have work to do is new to you. We were going to rest eternally, weren't we? (Revelation 14:13, Hebrews 4:9-11) We will certainly rest from our earthly toil. Fatigue and frustration will be a thing of the past. What could be better than meaningful work commissioned by God that always works out and suits you perfectly?
What kind of work would you like to be doing?
