Sin and our only hope

Aslan explains to the talking animals that a Son of Adam, named Digory, has awakened and brought evil to Narnia. But he also tells them that just as Adam's race caused the damage, so will Adam's race help restore it and that Aslan will see to it that the brunt of this damage falls on his own shoulders.

In Genesis, the serpent tempts Eve to taste the fruit of the tree that God had forbidden them, but Adam and Eve ended up eating that fruit. Sin entered the world through that act of disobedience. Later in the biblical accounts, Jesus comes to this world as a man to remedy this problem and gives his own life so that our sins may be forgiven and our relationship with God restored. Paul in the Letter to the Romans sums this up excellently: “Just as through the disobedience of one man many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one man many will be made righteous.”

Here are two very important points of Christianity: sin and the hope we find in Christ Jesus. As Christians we constantly live in temptation and accepting that is a good first step. The story of temptation and the fall in Eden is repeated every day in our lives in different situations.

Being aware of the temptations and sins in our lives is essential, but something more important is recognizing that we alone will not be able to overcome them and that we need help from the One who conquered sin. Christ is offered to us as the only hope, and it is he who can restore our relationship with God completely. And it will be up to us if we want to accept that help or if we want to wallow in our pride believing that we can do it on our own.

Conclusion:

During these three days we have seen some learning from the Chronicles of Narnia books, but there are many more lessons that these books can teach you. I recommend that you read this collection of fantasy books, and maybe then you can continue enjoying the other books that C.S. Lewis wrote.
