What Jesus Said About the Meaning of Life and a Christian Worldview預覽
The meaning of life and the content of a Christian worldview
All people have a worldview. Communists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, humanists, secularists, atheists – all have a world view.
Christians also have a worldview. Here are things that Jesus came to tell us that shape our worldview:
1. You have a Father - no other religion in the world has a Father in its worldview (Matthew 6:9).
2 No other religion has the same understanding of forgiveness as Christians – Jesus died in our place for our sins. Most religions have no or underdeveloped understanding of forgiveness.
3. In all other religions, our future after death is determined by my good works or the lack of enough good works (Hebrews 7:27).
4. We must be born again – born from the Spirit – to go to heaven (John 3:3-9).
5. We can go to heaven only if we believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. (John 3:18 and 36).
6. As Christians, we build our lives believing that we can be children of God and be forgiven of our sins based on God’s grace and mercy – and nothing else (John 15:11-32).
7. The total worldview of the Christian is anchored in the cross, blood, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15; John 12:32-33). There is no Christian religion without the cross and resurrection of Jesus.
8. Jesus said He is coming again and will take us to where He is – there is a heaven, life after death (Revelation 21-22).
9. The concept of loving your enemies is effectively unique in the Christian worldview (Matthew 5:38-48).
10. Jesus gave His children a mission: Go and make disciples of all nations. This command directs the entire life of the Christian (Matthew 28:18-20).
There are more things like the focus on the truth, faith, sanctity of marriage, serving others, the value of the soul, and serving others.
The question that confronts each Christian is: To what extent do we live according to a Christian worldview? It is one thing to have a Christian worldview and another to live according to it.
