Why Is Jesus the Savior?

4 天中的第 2 天

Hello Again! Today let’s talk about why Jesus is the savior and who he came to save. Jesus came to save the Jews, also known as the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Why were they lost if the Jews were the descendants of God’s chosen people, Israel, who had God’s word?

Beginning with Abraham, God promised to make his covenant through his descendants. However, the descendants of Abraham kept sinning and breaking their promise with God. We see the falling away of Israel repeatedly until we reach the time of King Solomon’s reign who broke the covenant with God by worshipping the foreign gods of his many wives even after God warned him three times. God then told King Solomon that the kingdom of Israel would be destroyed. The united 12 tribes of Israel were then divided, the north destroyed by Assyria and the South, Judah, taken captive by the gentile nation of Babylon.

Like Adam, Israel had transgressed the covenant. Even so, God showed mercy and did not forget His plan to restore His people therefore He promised through the prophets to establish a new covenant not like the covenant of old. He promised to forgive their sins by writing His word on their hearts and minds and to send a savior to deliver them.

Due to sin, we know that God is separated from His people. If God is the source of life, His people need to be reconnected with Him. The Jews needed a savior to cleanse them of their sins so that they could enter the new covenant with God. Without a savior, the Iost house of Israel would remain lost and apart from God.

If God sent Jesus to save the Jews, why did the Jews not recognize Jesus?
Have you remained faithful to the new covenant with God by writing God’s word on your heart and mind?
