Jesus With Us: Live Like Jesus, Love Like Jesus預覽
Ending Endless Worries
Worrying. Some of us do it more than others, but we all fall prey to it at times. We can worry about pretty much anything: the next rent check, our health, that presentation coming up, that deadline, our future, whether our child or parent will get sick.
Jesus’s teaching about worry in Matthew 6 is timeless. Even though He delivered it long, long ago, the lesson still fits today. Jesus addresses a few major categories of worry: finances, food, fashion, and the future. These four areas can keep us up at night. Granted, a certain level of concern for these areas is actually productive. If we’re never concerned, we might get lazy and fail to act when necessary. Worry becomes problematic when we’re already doing what we can, but we’re still stressing out trying to solve the unsolvable. In this case, the root of worry is a lack of faith. Faith and worry cannot coexist. Either we trust God, or we worry about life. So, to worry less, we have to trust God more.
God will come through. If you’re holding up your end, have faith that God will hold up His. Have faith in His plan for you. This is much more easily said than done, but our peace comes with listening and trusting God. It comes with faith.
As you reflect on these verses, think about which area of your life keeps you awake at night the most often.
How can faith in Jesus help us understand how to let go of fears and begin to trust in God?
Father, I don’t want to spend countless hours worrying when You’ve already told me not to worry. Give me faith to trust You more. When worries arise, help me put my confidence in You and Your plan for me. I know You are more than able to handle anything that comes my way. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
