Remembered for Good: Four Qualities of a Woman預覽
A Mother’s Love
Amid the clamor of fleeting fame and superficial accolades, there’s a tale that stands out, often overshadowed yet deeply resonant. It’s a narrative that nudges us to reconsider what truly matters, urging us to cherish both grand gestures and the quiet, steadfast acts of love. This isn’t the story of a renowned hero or a celebrated leader. It’s about Rufus’s mother, a woman whose gentle influence and unwavering care profoundly shaped one of Christianity’s most pivotal figures.
Rufus might ring a bell for some. His father, Simon of Cyrene, was the man pulled from the crowd to carry Jesus’ cross. Imagine the dinner table conversations in their home! Yet, it’s not just Simon’s act that’s noteworthy. There’s a heartwarming detail about Rufus’ mother that deserves our attention.
In Mark 15:21, we’re introduced to Rufus as Simon’s son, but it’s in Romans that we find a touching tribute. Paul, the apostle who penned much of the New Testament, refers to Rufus’s mother as his own. What an honor! This suggests that she extended motherly love and care to Paul, perhaps when he felt alone, tired, or in need.
Many of you are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or sisters. Some of you have spiritual children, even if you don’t have biological ones. The story of Rufus’ mother shows the power of spiritual motherhood. Her name might be lost to history, but her impact is eternal. She’s a testament to the countless women whose names we might never know but whose influence shapes generations.
The church, in all its glory, owes much to the dedication and love of its women. There’s a divine design within you, a nurturing, compassionate spirit that the world desperately needs. Men, too, benefit from the wisdom and care of the women in their lives. Your worth isn’t determined by the loudness of your accolades but by the depth of your impact. You might not be in the limelight, but your influence can shape destinies.
As we conclude this devotional series, let’s challenge ourselves: Who can you show love to today? How can you be a beacon of hope and care in someone’s life? Remember, every act of love echoes in eternity, no matter how small. Embrace the platform God has given you, not just on special days but every day, to make a difference in His kingdom.
