DAY 2
“So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground, and put his face between his knees.” 1 Kings 18:42
Ahab when off to eat and drink.
(A reminder of what just happened) There was a large crowd of people watching this all-day match of the century where 450 prophets of Baal and Elijah went head to head. everyone went home to enjoy dinner and maybe celebrate all the things they experienced that day.
I think this is a reminder that it’s always easier to follow the crowd than follow God’s voice.
But Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel.
He separated himself to pray. We know he took his servant, but besides that, he removed himself from the crowd. He removed all distractions and knelt before the Lord.
How often is your first move removing yourself from people when you are looking for a miracle?
When you are needing a situation solved, do you separate yourself to be alone with Jesus or do you go to people first?
I will be the first to raise my hand and say my reaction is to call a friend, to get other people’s advice or opinions on a situation. “You’ve been through something similar, tell me about your story. Do you have any advice for me?”
What if, God is teaching us to get away with him first?
What if that’s what he’s longing for us to do? He is desperate to spend time with us. What if the circumstances that are going on in your life are more about building intimacy with Jesus than they are about the actual situation?
What if God has asked you in every other way to come away with him, but you were too busy, too distracted, too…..
however, now…
Now, this situation is causing you to be desperate enough, and maybe even feel like you have no other option than to turn to him.
What if you are finally where he’s always hoped for you to be?
Coming into His presence to ask, seek, and invite Him into the areas of your heart and mind that have had a “do not enter” sign on the door. Or maybe a “Miss or Mrs independent” sign stating that you don’t actually need Him because you have things figured out.
Maybe in you feeling like you are losing control, He can finally show you that you’ve never been in control and He is.
Maybe today we simply invite God in. Here is a prayer that I have been praying,
“God, I need you. I invite you to find me. I invite you into the places of my life that I didn’t even realize I wasn’t including you in. I ask you to show me what to pray. Help me come to you first. Forgive me for turning to my friends or family instead of you. I surrender ___________ (name the situation) to you. Help me turn my eyes off my circumstances and onto you. Take me to your secret place and quiet the noise of my mind so I only hear your voice and rest in your peace. Amen.”
Thank You for Reading. Until Tomorrow.
關於此計劃
Have you ever experienced a season of waiting, praying, hoping, yet not seeing? You start to wonder if God can do it. Maybe you question if you deserve the answer to your prayer. Yet something within your soul says, don’t give up. Don’t stop praying. God is working. Reading the story of Elijah, we will learn to pray with expectation until we see the cloud in the clear blue sky.
