Bible Characters Who Fulfilled Their Destiny: And How You Can Do the Same預覽
Solomon’s Calling
Solomon was a man destined to build God’s temple, and to elevate the status of Israel into a nation of wealth. He was able to do this because God gave him a very rare gift of deep wisdom. But he had to pass a trial first: God tested Solomon by asking him what he wanted.
Solomon’s Holy Desire
Imagine for a moment that you could have absolutely anything you wanted, but you could only have one thing. Solomon loved God deeply but he knew that he had big shoes to fill after his father, King David, left him the throne. He wanted the people to be led well and understood that it wasn’t an easy task. In a moment of great respect for the people of God, Solomon gives up the chance to ask for anything material and instead asks that God would equip him to lead the people with discernment. Specifically, he wanted to be able to tell good from evil and to be able to judge the people well. God blessed Solomon with the wisdom he asked for and Solomon goes on to fulfil his destiny and become the most honoured and most wealthy King in all of history.
The Mind of Christ
The Bible promises that we have the mind of Christ: we too can make choices and decisions that are filled with His wisdom.
Reflective Question
Do you allow the Holy Spirit to ‘check’ your heart before you make requests to God?
Prayer
Father, thank you that we can pray and ask you for anything. Teach me, Holy Spirit, how to ask You for the right things. Lead me in my prayer life to be honourable and to focus on Your Kingdom. Let me focus on what is truly needed for me to fulfil my destiny, knowing that you take care of my physical needs. Amen.
