CARE PACKAGES FROM GOD

Our children loved going to summer camp for a few weeks each year. The camp always provided a list of items that each camper would need for the adventures ahead. They even instructed us to send letters and special care packages so that our children would be comforted if they were homesick.

We made many trips to the store to buy the items on the packing list. As loving parents, we carefully made sure they were well equipped for camp. From bug spray to sunscreen to shower shoes, we packed up everything they would need. Sometimes their suitcases were so full that they later had to search diligently to discover what we had packed for them.

Do you ever worry that you will not have what you need to endure living with illness? Your health issues may be a surprise to you, but they are not a surprise to God. Like a loving parent, your Father has provided everything necessary for the journey ahead (2 Peter 1:3).

Unpack the promises in your Bible to discover what He has given you.

When you are homesick for the life you used to lead, ask Him to bring special care packages that provide comfort, for He promises to meet all our needs (Philippians 4:19). The encouragement of a friend, the wisdom of a timely Scripture verse, and the beauty of a sunset are all perfectly packaged to give you whatever you need at that moment.

God has planned good things for you both today and in your future. Even your most challenging days with illness cannot keep His mercies from finding you and following you, all the days of your life (Psalm 23:6).

Jesus, Your name is above every other name. You are my healer, savior, and friend. One day You will rise with healing in Your wings to destroy the power of every disease. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and give me all I need to endure until that day. In Your mighty name, I pray. Amen.
