Perfect Sacrifice

“For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” – Hebrew 10:14

When I was eighteen, I faced consecutive problems that brought me close to depression. I wished I could find a place where there were answers to my situation. Or come across someone who could provide me with complete assurance that everything would be alright. God found me. In my deepest pit, I was grateful that He allowed me to experience His grace through Christ’s death on the cross.

Before Christ came and completed his works on earth, the promises of God were only given to a single nation, Israel. And to receive His promises, people had to follow the law commanded by God. All Israelites, including the high priest and worshipers, must endlessly sacrifice and burn animals as offerings to obtain forgiveness for their sins so that the promises of God could flow into the nation.

Today, because of Christ’s sacrifice, God has opened the door for people from all nations to be heirs of God’s promises (Ephesians 3:6). You and I are not excluded. We can completely rest in this truth because Jesus is a perfect sacrifice. There is no need for you and me to mourn about our lives when Christ is for us. Christ’s sacrifice is our assurance. His promises are answers to any adversities we face in life.

The doctor told me that my cancer had a high chance of being cured, and that news comforted us. However, no one was able to provide 100% certainty. I learned that the world can never give us perfect assurance, but God can.

When I needed healing from my cancer, His promise says, “By His stripes I am healed.” When I needed finance for my medication, He said, “He will supply my every need.” When I needed salvation for my family, He said, “my household will be saved”. Whatever I need, His promises are there for me.

My friend, what are your needs today? What assurance are you hoping to get? What valleys are you battling? You have what you need. God's provisions are in His promises, and His promises are our inheritance. Jesus has done it once and for all. He is forever a perfect sacrifice for you and me.
