Questions Jesus Asked預覽
After asking “Who do people say that I am,” Jesus then asked, “Who do you say that I am” (emphasis added)?
When Jesus asked the disciples this question, only Peter replied indicating Jesus was the Messiah. Jesus praised his belief.
Jesus wanted to reveal the disciples’ heart posture toward Him. He asks us the same question, “Who do you say that I am” (emphasis added)?
You might say He is your personal Savior or perhaps you’re not sure what to think of Him.
Jesus asked the disciples who He was to them because He invested in them, and knew their salvation depended on their belief in Him.
We can trust Jesus was both kind and firm. He was and is fully God and fully human, which makes Him wonderfully, mysteriously undefinable yet approachable. As a human, He can relate to our struggles, yet as God, He has deep compassion toward us.
If you don’t yet know Jesus’ deep compassion for you and would like to, you can say a prayer inviting Jesus into your heart.
Dear Jesus, I want to know your love and compassion. I understand that my sin keeps me from You. I’m in need of Your forgiveness. I believe in my heart that You died on the cross to forgive my sins and rose again three days later. I invite You to come into my life as my personal Savior. I surrender my whole life to You. Thank You for hearing my prayer and for coming into my heart. I now ask for Your Holy Spirit to guide me in all things! Amen.
