Promises for the Journey預覽
You are not forsaken
As a follower of Christ, you are going to go through stuff in this world. If anyone tries to tell you something different, ignore them because life is going to happen at some point.
I know believers who love God with all their heart, and they still go through sickness, loss of loved ones, spouses who walk out on them, adultery, divorce, loss of jobs, bankruptcy, family troubles, disappointments, hurts from other believers, miscarriages, and the list goes on and on.
Being a follower of Christ does not make you immune to these things happening in your life. The difference between the believer and the unbeliever is not the absence of storms. The difference is the presence of God walking with you during the storm.
The challenge when you face storms in your life is they can make you feel like God has forsaken you.
Do you remember when the disciples were in the storm? Jesus was sound asleep on the boat. They woke him up and asked him a very pertinent question. Lord, do you even care if we drown?
Have you ever felt this way? I know I have.
There was a time my son was in the hospital, and he was in great discomfort. There was nothing I could do to console him, and I remember looking up to heaven with anger in my voice, crying out, "God, don’t you even care?
Storms can make you feel forsaken, but I have good news for you. Jesus is with you, even in the storm. In the disciples’ case, when Jesus woke up, he rebuked the storm. But that isn’t the most important part of the story. The most important part was Jesus was in the boat with them, which means they weren’t going through the storm alone, and they would not drown. The same is true for you.
Regardless of how big the waves are or how fierce the storm, Jesus is with you in them. It is his promise, and he will not go back on his word. Consider these verses.
Hebrews 13:5 - I will never leave you or forsake you
Psalm 94:14 - For the Lord will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage
Before you go today, I want you to do something. Read Hebrews 13:5 in the Amplified version. I have included it below. Read it twice or as many times as necessary, and let the words sink deep into your heart.
“I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
The next time you are in a storm, or even if you are in one right now, remember there will never be a time or moment in your life when God will forsake you. He loves you too much to let you go.
Affirmation - No matter how much it hurts, how bad it feels, or how difficult it looks, God will never forsake me.
