You Are Not Alone

We have all been through moments of loneliness, anxiety, and sorrow. Many of the men and women in the Bible have been there as well. God left us their stories to inspire us to seek answers to these situations in His Word.

A friend who happens to be a psychologist shared her testimony with me. Despite being a psychologist, she was in despair because she lived alone and was depressed. She reached out to one of her professors, who was the head of the psychology department at her university, thinking he would have an answer to her problems. To her surprise, his response was, “All you need is Jesus.”

I live alone. If anyone can talk about loneliness, it is me. I go to bed alone, and I wake up alone. When I was 18, I felt lonely, worried, and sad; I believed in Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for me and paid for my transgressions. The presence of God entered my heart through His Holy Spirit, and He stayed in my heart forevermore. God has been in my heart since the day I believed. I have never felt alone again. The Word of God says in the book of Hebrews, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I have been living for Christ for 42 years now, and if He has been faithful to His word thus far, I am certain He will continue to be faithful.

When God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” you can choose to believe Him or not. Either God is a liar, or He will never leave you. We tend to make psychologists great and God small because we fear panic attacks. But what if our distress is a beautiful and victorious time with God? Our darkest nights can transform into nights where you go before God, He comes to your rescue, and you experience great victory and peace in your life, where God’s presence with you conquers every fear.

Meditate on this today: If I believe in God, I am not alone!

Anxiety, Depression and Loneliness

We have all been through moments of loneliness, anxiety, and sorrow. Many of the people in the Bible have been as well. Their stories should inspire us to look for answers in the Scriptures. The problem with these emotions—anxiety, depression, and loneliness— is that we often give them too much power over us. We must choose to give that power to the Word of God.
