The Antidote to Anxiety預覽
Choose Your Path
The Bible has a lot to say about every area of life—especially how we spend our time.
In today's guiding verse, the apostle Paul calls us to live “not as unwise but as wise.” Some versions of the Bible even translate this to “walk carefully.”
Imagine yourself hiking on the side of a rugged mountain in the pitch dark. Though you can't see it, you know a 1,000-foot cliff's edge is just feet away from the trail. I'm sure you would be conscious of each step, being careful not to trip or lose your balance. This is a great word picture of what wise living looks like. It means purposefully choosing each step in every circumstance. How do we do this? David answered this question in Psalm 119:105, writing, “Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”
We can trust God's Word to show us the way, even when it's one step at a time. It may not be the easy way, but it will be the right way. As Dr. Charles Stanley put it, "Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him."
Following God's path will always prove the best way to spend our time and guarantee we also make the most of every opportunity.
We do this by understanding that every moment counts. Each minute we're alive has meaning. This is why we shouldn't waste our time or consider it unimportant. It also goes one step further because our time correlates directly to our stress levels.
Stress reigns when we don't properly manage our time and opportunities. And if we don't properly manage stress, our quality of life will be affected in virtually every area: spiritually, mentally, relationally, financially, and more.
God's path will cause us to thrive, not merely survive. So walk wisely this week and every week.
As you engage with God’s Word:
● How can I make better use of my time?
● What is God saying to me?
● What do I need to do about it?
After you reflect on these questions, bring everything to God in prayer.
