Five Ways to Grow Your Faith 預覽
Day Two: Immerse Yourself in Scripture
The prophet Isaiah succinctly points out how different our view of life can be from God’s:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
The Bible warns us repeatedly against adopting the ideas and attitudes of this world. Our enemy, Satan, repeatedly whispers lies to turn us away from our loving Father. How, then, can we grow in seeing things as God does?
Spending considerable, quality time in God’s Word will help us shake off the lies the world tells us—and that we tell ourselves. As we read the Bible, study it, meditate on it, and memorize it, our viewpoints will be transformed. We will internalize the truth about God and His dealings with us. And we will trust in Him more and more.
Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible: 176 verses! Don’t let that intimidate you, though—you’ll find gold if you take the time to dig through the entire psalm. After you finish this plan, you may want to take a small section at a time and study it, underlining the benefits of spending time in and obeying God’s Word.
How can you make the Bible a bigger, more consistent part of your life? Jot down a few ideas. Pray over them and tell a friend what you feel God leading you to do. Ask your friend to check on and encourage you from time to time.
Wrapping Up: Which Scripture in this day’s reading most speaks to your heart? Write it out and take a few more minutes to reflect on and write about how it applies to your life today.
