"Love Is Patient"
By Maria Palacios
“Therefore be patient, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord.”—James 5:7 (NASB)
“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”—Ephesians 4:2 (NASB)
“A person’s discretion makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.”—Proverbs 19:11 (NASB)
“One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and one who rules his spirit, than one who captures a city.”—Proverbs 16:32 (NASB)
Dear heavenly Father, we pray for our marriage—that we remember to be patient with each other. Life can get so busy that some days become a blur. We seem to just go, go, go, which can cause us to be impatient and/or thoughtless with each other. Lord, we ask You not to allow our daily circumstances and environments to get the best of us. Remind us that we are not enemies, but rather the spouse You prepared us to be (Mark 10:8). We pray our marriage will always honor You as we do life together, giving each other grace when things don’t turn out as we expected. We pray we always remember how patient and graceful You are towards us daily and that we would be the same to each other. May we never take each other for granted, but rather turn to each other for support and wisdom as we lean on You for understanding and direction (Proverbs 3:5–6). We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
