You Are Shepherds

Abel. Abraham. Joseph. Moses. David. Amos. All of these men share something. Yes, they all have good, strong Bible names. Yes, if there is a Hall of Fame in Heaven, these men will certainly be honored in it. What’s interesting though, is they all had the same livelihood—they were shepherds.

It seems like shepherds are a big deal to God. You know, kind of like how kids love firemen. Think about it. Who were the first people to learn about the birth of Jesus? Shepherds. And it wasn’t like they heard about it via email or text message. No, they got a lights, lasers, sparks, and smoke-filled sky graced by a heavenly choir performance of one of the greatest songs of all time.

Small group leaders like you are modern-day shepherds. It’s not an easy task. It can be exhausting, frustrating, lonely, and sometimes scary leading a small group. Let these thoughts be an encouragement to you.

  1. God likes you. Just look how He treated shepherds in the Bible.
  2. God is using you. Your humble task has a massive eternal impact.
  3. God sees you. You are reaping heavenly rewards.
  4. God is shaping you. David took down Goliath, then led God’s people, only after learning to shepherd.

A Prayer Over You: Father, thank You for this humble leader. Thank You for their passion to lead people to follow You. Holy Spirit, please strengthen them with power, fill them with godly wisdom, and guide them to grow into the leader You want them to be. Jesus, increase their influence in Your Church and in their community. We ask all this to make Your love and power known to a godless world! Amen.

Small Groups, Huge Growth

Churches call them small groups, cell groups, and LifeGroups. Names aside, they exist to create meaningful relationships amongst Christ followers. But why? Are these the people we navigate our mostly comfortable Christian lives with, or is there something more? This Bible plan, by the Life.Church LifeGroups team, is for anyone who thinks God can use their small group to cause massive growth.
