Meeting With God in the Morning預覽
In Scripture (1 Kings 17:4) Elijah was fed by ravens before he even asked the Lord for food. After he was fed by ravens, Elijah was fed by a woman who didn’t think she had enough provisions for her own family, yet her jar of flour never ran empty and her jug of and oil never went dry.
I can think of times when God provided before I ever even knew I was in need, and I can think of requests for specific needs to be met that I’ve prayed over for a long time before being answered. Whatever the instance, God is provider of what he thinks we need and in His time. His name is Jehovah Jire, the Lord will provide. He provided a ram for Abraham in replace of Issac. The Lord provided Mana in the desert and even saw that the shoes of His people did not wear out.
Approaching God in the morning allows us to declare our dependence on Him as our provider. We humbly come before Him and present our needs. Asking God to provide keeps us humble. We do nothing on our own strength and we have nothing apart from Christ.
The Lord says, “I am He, I am He who will sustain you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4). Listing the ways God provides would require a book instead of a daily devotion. But the short list is God provides for our physical needs (Matthew 6:31:32), he gives us rest (Psalm 23:2), and he gives us direction (Ephesians 2:10). The Lord provides escape from temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13) and grace (2 Corinthians 9:8). God comforts us and gives us peace (Psalm 46:1; Romans 5:1).
Ultimately God points us to His truth (John 16:13) and He saves us (John3:16). All these things are ours if we ask. When we draw near to God, He will draw near to us (James 4:8). This week, spend your first minutes of the day drawing near to God and see that He also draws near to you.
When you obey Christ and draw near to him, we then find it easier to abide in Him. When we abide, we find ourselves better able to obey. This idea of abiding and obeying, which both require time spent with God, will allow you to find yourselves blessed beyond measure by God’s provision in all things.
